Technology Role in Learning

What tools and technologies will impact teaching and learning in the next 5 – 10 years?

The technology role in learning has changed the way we train or instruct. If you did not adjust to the new technology, then you were left behind to traditional teaching and less engaging learner. The tools and technologies that will impact teaching and learn in the next five to 10 years from my viewpoint are:

·         IPv6 ·         Cloud ·         Sensor Networks ·         On-the-Go Devices ·         Virtual classroom/ webcasting/ video broadcasting ·         Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning ·         Social Networking ·         Big Data

I will highlight some of these but need to limit this review. Managing programs and projects for corporation’s infrastructures and POS Retail hardware has given some insight on where we will be in the next ten years with technology. One of the key factor to connectivity is the ability to connect as many devices and up time. The IPv6 protocol will give you limitless connectivity, the cloud will give you a richer way to communicate, and smart sensor intelligence collects, analyzed, transmit and massively distributes data.

The technology industry has created more on-the-go devices not just the cell or smartphone but iPad, iPod, Surface, Mac Book Touch, Chromebook and many others. Yes, do not forget the latest trend in connectivity through connected or wearable technology accessories. See Figure 1. The millennial can easily collaborate, video chat and connect with the others across the world. Now, social learning and social networking have opened itself to vast global opportunities to learning cultural differences and raising the level of knowledge globally.
